A small town Ohio upbringing, law school in Chicago, following the boy I love to LA...that is just a snippet of what led me where I am today. I’ve always loved pretty pictures, pretty flowers, and pretty paper, but my love for weddings, details, and DIY evolved into a passion when planning my own wedding. During my planning I found lots of wedding inspiration on the blogs, but it was all about other people’s weddings. I couldn’t really find much on how to plan and design a wedding that I could make mine. A wedding should be about the couple getting married. And the design, decor, and theme of the wedding should reflect who you are.
I'm Chandra, bosswoman of myself at Oh Lovely Day. I love mason jars and vintage treasures, Ryan Gosling (after my husband Jonathan, of course!), and am absolutely obsessed with my toddler-cutie-pie-son, Charlie. And I love weddings! Aside from the L-O-V-E, it is the little things, the lovely details and cohesive ideas, that make a wedding special. Oh Lovely Day is all about those lovely things; the vintage, chic, stylish, homemade, handmade, and do-it-yourself inspiration to make your wedding YOU. I'm based in Los Angeles, but love to feature lovely, vintage, and DIY weddings from all over the world. Oh Lovely Day's DIY tips were recently published on MSN's wedding homepage, was voted as the Best DIY Wedding Blog on One Wed, and is among BrideTide's Top 100 Wedding Blogs for 2011 and 2012. I recently launched a Vendor Guide to help couples find handpicked vendors who will help make their wedding a lovely one. Also, in the works is a new Oh Lovely Day venture: Gilded Vintage + Custom Rentals, here to help Southern California couples achieve their vintage wedding vision with vintage rentals, custom DIY projects, and spectacular styling. Also, I eat most of my meals at the LA Farmer’s Market and if I could be anywhere on earth it would be Florence, Italy, with said husband and baby boy.
I hope I am able to provide you with an idea, some inspiration, or a DIY project that you can use in your own wedding. Just remember to make it YOU. Grab a cup of coffee (or sweet tea) and stay a while!
xx
How did Oh Lovely Day begin?
Oh Lovely Day began as a creative hobby that basically gave me an excuse to continue to follow weddings after my own wedding had passed. During my own wedding planning I realized how much I loved the design process, the little details, and making our wedding a reflection of who we are. I wanted to share what I had learned, ideas I had, and inspiration I had found with other brides. I feel that too much emphasis has been placed on outdoing other weddings and getting your wedding published in magazines and blogs. Don't get me wrong, I think it is really fun to get your wedding published (and mine was published also). But that should the icing on an already lovely cake. Your wedding should be about love, family and friends, and fun. It should be a reflection of your personalities, not what you saw in a magazine. That is what Oh Lovely Day is all about.
Where can I find your wedding?
I was honored to have my wedding published on Style Me Pretty and The Knot, as well as Love and Lavender. I also featured it here on Oh Lovely Day and you can find links to all of the posts {here} or click on the "our wedding" badge in the home page sidebar. My awesome wedding photographer, Jennifer Roper, also took the photos of me on this page.
Who designed that lovely blog header?
My BFF Kate of Tilde Designs designed the lovely new header you see on my blog. Feel free to email me if you are interested in a lovely header for your own blog!
