{It's in the Details} Drink Displays for your Vintage Weddings

Why have a boring old bar or self serve your wedding beverages in *gasp* coolers when you can create a cool and unique drink display using vintage things you can find at a flea market or even around your house?  Here are my favorite vintage drink displays for your vintage wedding.

So my lovelies, what do you think?  Do you love these rustic and vintage beverage set-ups?  Which is your favorite?  Have you seen or done something unique not listed here.  I'd love to hear your ideas!

{Real Wedding} Emilee & John: Pink + Green DIY Summer Wedding

This wedding is such a cheery breath of fresh air.  From the vibrant pink and green color palette to the sweet DIY details, it is fun, whimsical, and doesn't take itself too seriously.  It just screams cheer and fun to me.  And the cool Chuck Taylors the bride changed into for the reception only reinforce that this bride planned on dancing!

From the fantastic photographer, Jenny Evelyn:

Emilee and John's vintage garden wedding was a DIY dream. From her beautiful handmade bouquets and boutonnieres to the adorable thumbprint guest books, Emilee found the cutest things on Etsy! And then she even made the table cloths, runners and table arrangements herself! In addition to all the DIY cuteness, Emilee and John also included so many personal touches. Their friend officiated the wedding ceremony and they included a traditional Irish handfasting ceremony. The bride and bridesmaid changed from their ceremony heels to matching Chuck Taylors for the reception so they could dance the night away. It was adorable from beginning to end!

Love those Etsy and DIY details and that the couple made their wedding so personal to them.  It is so fun when a friend of the couple officiates the ceremony!  Have any of you had someone close to you officiate?  My husband and I almost did, but our parents thought it was a little strange (they hadn't really heard of it before) so we decided against it, but now I wish we had stuck to our guts and had a close friend marry us.  I'd love to hear stories from those of you who did in the comments!

{Mason Jars} A Must-Have Detail for your Vintage Wedding

Happy Monday everyone!  I'm in Vegas for WPPI to meet and hang out with other wedding bloggers and lots of wedding photographers, and to hit a couple of super cool parties.  It is my first trip alone away from Charlie since he was born.  I'm really excited and a bit nervous too.  I'll be blogging about the trip next week, so stay tuned.  But today, I'm revisiting a reoccurring theme on this blog, mason jars!

If you are at all familiar with this blog you know that I am a big lover of mason jars.  If you are having a vintage-styled wedding then mason jars are a must-have for your decor.  And there are quite a few ways you can incorporate them:

{Use them as beverage containers}

{Use them for take-home dessert treats}

 {Use chalkboard paint to make them escort cards}

{Use them for wedding favors}

{Tie them together for a 'multiple' floral container}

{Or hang them from a shepherd's hook}

{Turn them into hanging candle luminaries}

 {Or floating candle luminaries}

{Or table top luminaries}

{Or possibly my favorite use - display family photos in them}

So, how do you plan on using mason jars in your wedding?  I'd love to hear your ideas!  Are you 'over' mason jars, or do you love them just as much as I do?

{Weekly Wrap Up} Plus, A Hair DIY that will give you the best bun EVER!

Hey y'all, happy Friday!  So I decided that I'd like to share something fun with you each week during my weekly wrap ups.  Makes Friday a little more fun, no?  This week I'm going to share a fantastic hair secret with you.  A few weeks ago my BFF called and asked me if I had ever heard of a sock bun.  Yes, sock bun.  I hadn't.  So she shared with me.  I was hooked.  And now I'm getting you hooked.  You're welcome.

You know how sometimes you see some celebrity with an amazing 'do and you know you can't achieve it because they have a hair stylist, fantastic products, and fake hair at their disposal. You know most of those celebs have fake hair in right?  And while I'm spilling, the ones who gave birth 6 weeks ago and are back to a size zero have nutritionists, personal trainers, nannies, and sometimes surgeons to help them.  Meanwhile I only got back in to my pre-preggo jeans last week, and my son is over a year old.  I can't help you with that, but I can help you with the hair!

Let me start by saying that I do have long hair, but it is fine and I don't have a ton of it.  So you can totally achieve this look without having super thick hair.  Let me introduce you to my new addiction:  The Sock Bun.

All you have to do is watch this.  You can skip ahead to the 4 minute mark.  And GO!

And I don't know this girl, so don't email me about how her voice bugs you or her room has weird stuff on the walls.  I'm aware.  Nothing I can do.  But she does share a genius idea, you have to give her credit!

Now it takes a bit of practice, and I do use bobby pins to secure my bun in place if I'm going to wear it that way all day because my hair is really silky and tends to slip around eventually.  But it gives a great look and I've had tons of girls that I don't know stop and ask me how I did my bun.  And I told them to watch this video.  Here's a photo of mine:

{sorry for the extreme close up.  it is really hard to take a picture of your own bun you guys!}

So, now your turn!  Watch the video, try a bun, take a photo, & share it with me on my facebook page!  SOCK BUN!

Now for the weekly wrap-up:

{monday} if you liked The Notebook, you'll love this love shoot!

{tuesday} all you need is love

{wednesday} possibly my favorite DIY wedding EVER!

{thursday} this couple DIY'd their e-session, as in, photographed it themselves!

And catch up on my posts for One Wed this week:

{be mine, vintage valentine} inspiration to show love everyday and in every wedding, not just on valentine's day

{MANgagement} I do or I don't on engagement rings for men

So, your homework for the weekend: SOCK BUNS!  xx

{Real Engagement} Charisse & Irvin: Retro Love Shack Self-Taken E-session

This bride and groom-to-be thought up, styled, planned, and photographed this e-session all on their own!  Admittedly, Charisse is an aspiring photographer, but I still think that is a huge feat to take on and achieve so well!  Here is their super creative and cute love shack session:

Charisse, the bride-to-be and photographer, shares about the inspiration behind their e-session:

Irvin and I were in the lounge one night, talking about our plans for our shabby chic vintage wedding which is now a couple months away.  Though we are having many DIY decors and accessories (for my love of art and crafts), we wanted to make our wedding even more personalised by contributing something that we both have passion about. That's when we thought - why not shoot our own engagement photos?! I have seen loads of e-sessions online that left me drooling and wishing I could one day have my own that would inspire others as well... So I took out my grey book and doodled some concepts. I wanted something laidback, simple and nostalgic. The things we used on the shoot were bought from carboots and charity shops and some were given to us by a neighbor. We rented the flare jeans from a vintage shop (Beatnik Emporium). We wanted the title to be 'The Lover's Den' but after googling it, the name denotes kinkiness (lol) so we decided on 'The Love Shack' instead which suits the concept somehow.

"The Love Shack is a little old place
where we can get together
Love Shack baby, Love Shack baby
Love baby, that's where it's at,
Ooo love baby, that's where it's at

Sign says.. Woo... stay away fools,
'cause love rules at the Lo-o-ove Shack!
Well it's set way back in the middle of a field,
Just a funky old shack and I gotta get back."
(B-52's Love Shack)

What a fun and cute idea!  I wish I was this creative!  Isn't it super impressive that this whole e-session was self-done?  And if you want to see more of Charisse's work, check out her website Charisse Joy Photography.
